Chile 2005![]() ![]() Oliver's and my trip to Chile was our honeymoon! With little planning, or should I say no planning, we jumped on the plane to Santiago. Planning began on the plane by opening the Lonely Planet guide. We landed in Santiago on a mid-October afternoon and headed straight for Vina del Mar and Valparaiso. We relaxed on the chilly coast before heading "inland" (as much as one can go "inland" in Chile) and South. We spent some time in the mountains, hiking and biking, then continued south to Chiloe Island via Pucon and its amazing snowy volcanoes. While we enjoyed our trip, we learned, for the first time, the value of planning. Lack of planning found us colder than expected, in shoulder season just before things opened for the summer season, and the storied Altiplano of the north and Patagonia of the south eluded us due to tight timelines and long travel distances. For what we missed, we must return! > See the photos. Back to top |
